Gabriel Stevens
Cofounder & Master Trainer
Gabriel Stevens is cofounder of MyndShyft, launched alongside Monte in January 2025. His journey began in Montgomery, Alabama, and took a transformative turn when his family moved to Haiti as missionaries when he was 12. Nearly eight years in Haiti shaped his passion for mental health and service, as he spent time translating for mission teams and connecting deeply with the people and their stories.
Driven by a calling to serve, Gabriel returned to the U.S. to attend boarding school in Sewanee, Tennessee, where he honed his soccer skills and later went on to play collegiate soccer at Carson-Newman University near Knoxville. There, he also pursued a degree in nursing, focusing on psychiatric care, a path that led him into acute psychiatric nursing after graduation. Early in his nursing career, he quickly progressed into leadership roles, taking on responsibilities in staff training, patient advocacy, and administrative oversight. These experiences sharpened his ability to understand the needs of both patients and healthcare professionals alike.
Drawing from his clinical background and Monte's 40+ years of experience, Gabriel helped create MyndShyft to deliver specialized training programs designed to meet the unique needs of individuals and organizations. The mission is simple: to change mindsets, empower teams, and bring meaningful transformation through intentional, tailored training.
Monte Mayfield
Cofounder & Master Trainer
Monte Mayfield is cofounder of MyndShyft. The idea for this journey truly came to life in January 2025, during a conversation with Gabriel that reminded them both just how powerful intentional communication can be. Monte was born in Japan and adopted by missionaries, eventually growing up in the United States, primarily along the West Coast.
From a young age, Monte developed a deep sensitivity to the needs of others, especially while caring for Alzheimer's patients. He began to see how impactful simple, meaningful conversations could be in creating comfort and connection. This passion led him to focus more deeply on working within the Special Needs and Autistic communities, where he further honed his communication skills.
Later, Monte transitioned into the private sector, collaborating with a group of doctors to support both patients and families, work that expanded his understanding of the human experience and the importance of empathy in care. Over the years, he has had the privilege of teaching and mentoring others in the art of communication, helping them connect in ways that are both effective and compassionate. Together with Gabriel's clinical expertise and his own decades of experience, Monte has helped create training programs that go beyond the ordinary. MyndShyft doesn't just teach communication, it tailors it to each client's needs, helping teams connect on a deeper, more human level.
